BOSTON–On Twitter, a social networking site, millions of users were building up AIDS awareness on National AIDS Awarness Day.
However, another Twitter user was building up awareness of her own. Who? None other than Megan Phelps, daughter of Fred Phelps, founder of Westboro Baptist Church in Topeka, KS.
Unlike other World AIDS Day activists on Twitter, Megan Phelps was sending a message of her own:
meganphelps: Thank God for AIDS! You won’t repent of your rebellion that brought His wrath on you in this incurable scourge, so expect more & worse! #red
Throughout the day, Phelps endured mocking responses from all over the world including direct replies from celebrities including Michael Ian Black and Rainn Wilson.
Calling it “The Fateful Fig Find: Boston, MA Edition,” WBC’s plan for the day was to protest in five different locations in Boston.
We’re celebrating World AIDS Day with 5 pickets in MA, the 1st state to have fag “marriage.” Fitting, right?
Although Phelps failed to make an appearance two of her followers and two young boys visted each site and picketed against Judaism, homosexuality and those they considered enablers.
In a press release, Westboro Baptist Church–notorious for their online campaigns including godhatesfags.com–explained how recent occurrences in natural disasters, disease and financial collapse were only the tip of the ice burg of doom god will inflict on, apparently, the entire world.
